Automotive retailing is undergoing the most profound change in more than 50 years. The traditional brick-and-mortar dealership business model is at an inflection point. Motivated by the pandemic and the Amazon phenomenon, consumer buying behavior has rapidly transformed. Ease of shopping (online and in-store), transparency, immediacy, consistency, and, of course, accuracy are critical components to improving the customer experience and for retail success today.

In this keynote, you’ll hear from a panel of automotive industry thought leaders who will discuss their views on how businesses are changing their approach to win the hearts and minds of the consumer – currently and post-COVID.

Moderator: Ron Frey, President and CEO, RL Frey, Inc.

Panelists: Denny Pezic (Director, Customer Journey, Kia Motors America, Inc.), Andrew Walser (Owner, Walser Automotive Group), Rusty West (Co-founder & President, Market Scan Information Systems, Inc.), and Alex Snyder (Co-Founder & CEO, FRIKINtech, Inc)

Andrew Walser
is the CEOof Walser Automotive Group. He assumed the role of CEO in 2017. As CEO, Andrew oversees the total strategy of the company’s sales, service, and fixed operations. Yet, the core of Andrew’s work always funnels back to a simple mission—give customers a great car buying experience that’s fast and easy. With that mentality, Andrew has helped drive and execute industry-pioneering practices over his 33 years in the automotive sector. In 2001, Andrew was instrumental in implementing a one-price sales philosophy for the dealer group, removing negotiation and haggling from the purchase process. Andrew is driven to continue simplifying the customer experience by eliminating industry bottlenecks with the removal of traditional finance offices and the enhancement of digital lead handling. Andrew also played a crucial role in revitalizing Walser’s used vehicle process, engineering a centralized purchasing and reconditioning process that today has become the largest single used vehicle operation in the Midwest. In addition, Andrew continues to focus on the leadership and growth of people, culture, and core values that make Walser Automotive Group a diverse and inclusive place to work. Andrew has been a board member of the Greater Metropolitan Automobile Dealers Association (GMADA) since 2010. Andrew also served on GMADA’s Labor Negotiations Board in 2016. From its initial focus on aggregating data and offering scientifically perfect solutions for retail lease and finance transactions, Rusty has led Market Scan to become a leading SaaS Enterprise Solutions authority in the automotive industry. Today, Market Scan provides software and technology solutions, with an emphasis on Digital Retailing, directed towards the four vertical markets: Consumers, Dealers, Lenders and Manufacturers. Market Scan solutions help companies optimize their competitiveness and profitability, as well as deliver an enhanced consumer experience.

Alex Snyder:
Who knew scratching his name in a $93 desk, in 5th grade, would turn into a 30+ year automotive career for Alex Snyder. His grandfather drove him to the dealership every Saturday to pay off that desk. Alex stuck around in the family business to eventually oversee the Checkered Flag Automotive Group’s digital presence and operations. It led him to DealerRefresh and eventually a move to Dealer.com to lead the creation of a CRM that grew to 600 dealerships in two years. After the Cox acquisition, Alex found himself a man without a mission. Today the mission is alive and well with the creation of FRIKINtech, short for FRIKTIONLESS technologies, proving to dealers the key to raising all metrics is arming the sales staff with relevant conversations. FRIKINtech provides the fuel for customer engagement
